Have you ever wondered what it would be like to try a
different font every day for the next 18.5... years and never repeat any fonts?
Well now you can with this collection of 6,760 fonts all
conveniently wrapped up in a tarball.
Description:
The Absolute Fonts Archive
created a page that will let you download many fonts one at a time, or for a fee you can download them all as a zip file.
Upon careful
inspection of their site I found a multitude of corrupted font files. After removing all the corrupted files I was left with 6,760 fonts. I have
chosen to turn them into a tarball and offer them as a free download.
Warning:
Do not install all these fonts, instead you should be
selective and only install a couple hundred as it will slow down your desktop if you install them all. If you just want to use a subset of these that
I've already selected check out Fun
Fonts
Changelog:
Previously a perl script was available here for download, but as I am now hosting the fonts myself, it is no longer
necessary.
If you are on a dial-up connection try using a program like wget to download them, in case there is a
disconnect.
License:
All fonts available through the Absolute Fonts Archive (either directly or via the tarball) are freely
redistributable.
Absolute Fonts Archive has neither licensed nor created any of the fonts on their site, but they do warn against commercial
use of these fonts (which is odd considering that they are selling these fonts).

A great set of TrueType fonts for designers using a box based on Linux.
